TAG DAY 2019 -- 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM Saturday, August 24
During this window, Nordonia band members dressed in their summer uniform will be walking in pairs and knocking on doors in the residential areas of the Nordonia community. If nobody is home, a bag of information will be left on the doorknob so that every resident will have an opportunity to help support their very own award-winning Nordonia Marching Band. Go Knights!
WHAT IS TAG DAY?
Tag Day is a day on which monetary contributions are solicited (as for a charity) and small tags are given in return.
Many years ago, band members would stand on the street corners and, as people went by and donated, they would give donators a small strip of paper (a tag) to pin on their shirts. While the method has changed over time, the purpose is still the same – to collect money for the uniform fund.
The Nordonia Band received brand new uniforms in the fall of 2013 at the cost of over $300 per uniform. This was made possible only through the diligent efforts of many, many years of prior band members participating in Tag Day and donations from the community. Not only do the funds collected from Tag Day pay for the new uniforms, they also cover the cost of maintenance of those uniforms (washing, mending, replacing various parts such as gauntlets and plumes).
